Should I add trash-tier links to any of my pyramid in 2025?

Hello!

I've read a lot about tiering your linking pyramid to protect your money site.

To clarify how I understand pyramid: [money site] - [Tier 1] - [Tier 2].

Just 3 tiers to simplify things, I consider [Tier 1] just as a buffer between shit and money.

Respected people here said you can point sh*tty-tier links (blog comment spam) to your buffer site.

To Note: When did they say it? Sometimes in topics that were created years ago, I just search them and read, but now I'm afraid I'm reading outdated advice, so hence I created this thread to clarify the current state of affairs on this regard.

So, as of now. Google said it will favor niche-relevant links. Links from blog-comments are way out of niche, because they're random.

I hope you now understand where I came to. Money-site has a specific niche. Tier 1 is niche-specific, but it will have irrelevant links coming to it.

And such irrelevant links are considered link farm, e.g. example of sites some people offer links from:

Semrush says it will damage the site this one links to (Tier 1).

But then Tier 1 will become a site with shitty backlinks. And now I'm afraid of pointing it to my money site.

So, do you do it like this? Because many marketplace offers make link from all over the place, non-niche relevant.

OK, let's say you put another Tier between: [money site] - [Tier 1] - [Tier 2] - [shitty links].

Now shitty links point to Tier 2. But will Tier 2 have so much authority from shitty links to make it worthwile?
