How do you check if a backlink from a domain is good or bad?

I wonder if it’s the best approach to check whether a backlink will be counted by Google by searching for the domain in Google using:
site:demodomain.com

If it’s a good backlink:
Multiple results will be visible for the domain.

If it’s a bad backlink:
Only the domains homepage appears in the results.

Is this a correct way to check if it’s worth purchasing a backlink from a specific domain?
(Of course, other metrics like DA, PA, etc. should also be solid.)
