Is putting a "link in comments" the best way to share resources?

Hi everyone — quick question: when you want to share an article, tool, or resource, do you usually drop a link in comments instead of posting it directly in the main post? I'm trying to understand the pros and cons and would really appreciate your experience.

Specifically, I'm curious about moderation policies, visibility (do people actually click links in comments?), and whether platforms tend to penalize or hide posts that rely on commenters for the link. If you've tested this or have strong opinions, could you share what worked or failed for you?

Please give examples if possible — which platforms, what type of content, and any clever ways you've used to keep engagement high while staying within the rules. Thanks in advance for any insights!
